3 ways to become a qualified Accountant!

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join us for a career in Accounting.

As a long established business, we work with a broad range of clients and have developed a complete range of services that can be tailored to any business. Earn whilst you learn at Whittingham Riddell with our privately funded training schemes that will allow you to develop your skills in the largest local accountancy practice.

Our local teams based in Ludlow, Newtown, Shrewsbury and Wrexham are committed to developing genuine partnerships, and thanks to our consultative approach become mentors to guide businesses through the often complicated world of tax, accounting and business.

We offer opportunities with both Apprenticeship and Graduate Programmes and will put you through all or some of your Professional Accountancy qualifications - read more here...

1. Accountancy Apprenticeship scheme

At Whittingham Riddell, we realise that some people wish to jump-start their careers by joining straight after school. The firm is always looking for self-starters with a willingness to learn and grow with the challenges of the job.

Our Offer

We will provide a comprehensive training programme through our Apprenticeship Scheme, including internal and external training as well as on the job mentoring. The successful candidates will be offered a training contract within the ACCA training structure and will receive a fully supported study through the Kaplan Financial Training for professional exams on a block release basis.

Our entry requirements

  • 3 x A levels or equivalent

2. Graduate Accountant Programme

We are interested to hear from qualified or part qualified graduates who are interested in a career in accounting. Our structured programme of skills training aims to provide graduates with a solid understanding of the business world. We also recognise that professional exams are a challenge and we aim to provide practical support and encouragement to our staff throughout their study period. We undertake regular reviews of each candidate's performance and assist graduates to become true business professionals, who are more than just accountants to our clients, but key business advisers.

Our Offer

We will provide a comprehensive training programme through the Graduate scheme, including internal and external training as well as on the job mentoring. The successful candidates will be offered a training contract within the ICAEW training structure and will receive a fully supported study through the Kaplan Financial Training for professional exams on a block release basis.

Our entry requirements

  • A 2.1 degree,
  • 280 UCAS points at A2 level or equivalent

3. Experienced Professionals

If you are already qualified or part qualified and are not looking for a full trainee scheme, we are always interested to hear from experienced professionals who have developed a career in accountancy.
