Whittingham Riddell recruit two more trainees to their team in Wrexham

Chartered accountancy and business advisory firm, Whittingham Riddell is nurturing the next generation as part of an ongoing strategy to support the Wrexham area.

The firm, which has a base on the Wrexham Technology Park is an authorised training provider for the Institute of Chartered Accountants, holds Platinum status under the ACCA Approved Employer scheme and has AAT Approved Training status. Through these bodies Whittingham Riddell support trainees at the beginning of their careers with a comprehensive accountancy training programme for school leavers and graduates, providing an opportunity for students to earn while they learn.

The most recent recruits to the programme are Harriet Bailey and Tomos Williams who joined the firm’s growing Wrexham team in August. Harriet joins the firm following the completion of an Actuarial Mathematics Diploma at Liverpool University and Tomas has recently completed his A Levels at The Maelor School.

They will both study under the AAT training programme, which will see them attending college once a week and train ‘on-the-job’ for the remainder of the time.  Harriet and Tomos join two other students in Wrexham, Josh Williams and Lewis Bishop who have completed the AAT Training Programme and are currently progressing further with their studies.

Andrew Tweedie, Partner in the Wrexham Office said: “At Whittingham Riddell, we strongly believe that our key asset is our employees and we see them as the most valuable tool to our success and growth as a firm. Many of our team joined the firm through the trainee programme and have progressed to hold senior positions, which illustrates the potential opportunities available by joining the programme.”

“As an authorised training provider, we are passionate about training the next generation of accountants. We invest a considerable amount of time in induction and training to prepare employees and the training programme provides a great opportunity to start a career in accountancy.”

“We are delighted to welcome Harriet and Tomos to our team and I look forward to seeing them progress and enjoy a long and successful career at the firm. I have been incredibly impressed with Josh and Lewis who are progressing through our training programme.  It has been fantastic to see them both develop personally and technically and be able to cultivate relationships with our clients. I am confident that they will be a great support to Harriet and Tomos and be able to share some of their experiences.”

As further testimony of their support for youth in the area, the firm are proud sponsors of the West Cheshire and North Wales (WCNW) Young Chamber programme, a scheme set up to help schools and colleges tap into the knowledge, skills and experience of local businesses, which helps students succeed in the world of work.  This year the firm is also sponsoring the Young Chamber Award at the forthcoming Chamber Recognition Awards in November and are looking forward to awarding the winning school with their trophy in due course.
