Peter Cowdy specialises in advising land owning families and clients in the agriculture and food industries. He leads a specialist team working in these areas at Whittingham Riddell which focuses on providing practical advice and solutions to help families to run their enterprises in a commercial and tax efficient way, while meeting long term strategic objectives. The team work with a range of business models and structures to meet the requirements of a rapidly changing economy and the changing lifestyles and business opportunities available to clients.
Peter was an Exhibitioner at Merton College, Oxford, and went on to study farm animal nutrition at Reading University. He worked with Unilever, first in animal feed product development and marketing, with BOCM Silcock (as it then was) and subsequently as Foods Product Development Manager with UAC International.
Peter moved up to Shropshire and joined Whittingham Riddell in 1984. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ninth in the national order of merit) in 1987 and became a partner in the firm in 1990.
Peter and his wife, Penny run a busy equestrian centre just South of Shrewsbury, which was developed on the family dairy farm. Both have a keen interest in horses.
