At Whittingham Riddell, we believe that professionals need accountants with specialised knowledge of their profession to offer them best advice. We’ve invested in developing a team with specific knowledge of the medical profession’s needs. We offer our services nationwide, but base our fees on local rates.
For doctors in general practice, hospital consultants, locums and non-principal GPs our team’s experience and expertise includes:
- A team of staff trained and experienced in medical accounts. We know what is happening in your profession and can give appropriate advice on new initiatives and how they affect you financially.
- Undertaking benchmarking reviews of your practice’s performance, comparing to national data and our own benchmarking survey
- A good working knowledge of National Health Service contracts including assisting with PCT negotiations.
- We are fully conversant with the NHS superannuation scheme
- Collating information on expenses for which you can claim tax relief and advising you about this annually when we prepare you accounts.
- Training your staff in record keeping, for all accounting and software packages including the industry specialist software produced by Maclean McNicoll. We can receive your financial data electronically.
- Providing book-keeping and payroll services to enable practices to outsource routine accounting functions to industry trained experts.
- Helping you to review your records during the accounting year to identify and measure practice performance
- Advising dispensing practices on issues affecting them including VAT, cash flow funding and profit performance.
- Looking at retirement planning and succession planning in the practice. We regularly deal with practice changes and can help you to develop a package for new partners and advise on the administration of partnership changes
- Advice on practice property issues, and new build projects. In particular what happens when someone leaves the practice and sells their share of the property?
- Advice on investments and insurance products, via our team of specialist independent financial advisors, who understand the specific needs of your profession, and work with us to give you sound financial advice.
In addition, we offer all the standard services you would expect from your accountant, including production of annual accounts and tax returns, together with advice on forthcoming tax, superannuation and VAT liabilities.
